About the B.T.B.C.A.
![]()
The British Tenpin Bowling Association (B.T.B.A.) is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Tenpin Bowling in Britain. In this capacity, the responsibilities of the B.T.B.A. include the Coach Education and Qualification System.
The B.T.B.C.A. comes under the umbrella of the BTBA, to which the Chairman reports annually, through the B.T.B.C.A. President (the Director of National Coaching).
The B.T.B.C.A. however, is run solely by a committee, elected by the members annually at the A.G.M., subject to their good standing with the B.T.B.A.
There are 4 levels of BTBA Coaching Qualification:
Phase I: Instructor: - approved to teach beginners.
Phase II Instructor: - approved to teach beginners and bowlers with a limited amount of experience in the Sport.
Phase III Coach: - approved to coach advanced bowlers including County and National levels.
Phase IV Coach: - approved to coach at all levels, coach education, Instructor mentoring and development, setting of standards for coaching.
The main aim of the B.T.B.C.A. is to provide a contact point for all B.T.B.A. qualified Instructors and Coaches. The passing of the BTBA two-day courses gives a basis of knowledge from which to work, however, the only way in which people can develop their skills in coaching, is through practical experience. In gaining this experience, questions often arise, for which the answers are not immediately clear.
To have access to other Instructors/Coaches with whom to discuss a problem or point of view is invaluable, no matter what level of qualification is held.
If you hold a B.T.B.A. coaching qualification, and are a current member of the B.T.B.A. or an affiliated Association, you are entitled to apply for membership of the B.T.B.C.A.
Being a member gives you access to our Members Only 'Group Site' with its wealth of information, photographs, messages, links & 'Private Chat Room'. Other benefits of membership of the B.T.B.C.A. include; automatic professional liability insurance (according to your level of B.T.B.A. qualification), access to workshops run by B.T.B.C.A., badges indicating levels of voluntary personal development achieved, and regular newsletters.
